Investigating the Impact of Corporate Green Innovation Capability on Firms’ Sustainable Competitiveness

Abstract

This study focuses on the influence of corporate green innovation capabilities on sustainable competitiveness. On the basis of literature investigation and theoretical summary, it systematically defines the connotation, dimensions, and measurement methods of green innovation capabilities, elucidates the multidimensional characteristics of sustainable competitiveness, and analyzes the mechanism of their interaction using frameworks such as the natural resource-based view. A synthesis of domestic and international empirical studies reveals that green innovation capabilities positively drive sustainable competitiveness through pathways such as improved resource efficiency, product and process differentiation, and legitimacy construction. This relationship is robustly supported in manufacturing and SME contexts and is significantly moderated by factors such as financial accessibility, resource orchestration capabilities, environmental regulatory intensity, and market dynamics. The research results enrich the theoretical summary of green innovation and Sustainable Competitive Advantage, and provide guidance for Chinese enterprises in addressing dual-carbon targets and green transformation. At the same time, it also shows the limitations of cross-sectional data and the future expansion direction to vertical and various scenarios.
